Torture
Today has been kind of a bad day for me. It all started last night when I watched something that put me in a bad mood. Then the more I thought about it, the more disturbed I became.
As some of you know, I was supposed to be inside the world trade center on 911, but sleeping in possibly saved my life. Because of that, I have been more interested than your average joe on what is happening during this war.
What bothered me was watching the presidential debate last night. All but two people said they were ok with the military participating in torture (like weatherboarding) to try to get information out of terrorists.
Isnt using pain and fear to get someone to do what you want terrorism? What makes us different from them?
This depresses me a lot. For every "suspected terrorist" we kill, 2 innocent people are also killed. I say suspected because with many, we just don't know. How is that winning? If everytime you scored a touchdown in football the other team scored 2, you would have no chance of winning.
We have bombed 6 countries in the last 3 years. Can many of us even name those countries? Do we even care? What the fuck is wrong with us? Our government is killing and torturing people and we don't even ask who or why. How does that make me safe?

I'm going to leave a bunch of comments so that maybe it will fall under the "most popular blogs" category so more people will read it.
