So what's the deal with David Silveria?

Mon, Jul 1, 2013 at 7:04 PM By: hylianux

I've read some stuff about David Silveria... how many people want the original 5 back, and how David told many people on facebook and twitter to flood the Korn channel, and the members' personal accounts about getting the original 5 back...

Then again, I'd also heard of some negative things David said towards Korn, the fans, to Jon and his wife personally, and other ramblings...

To this, I hear arguments like "Ah, they let Head back, and he said some mean stuff too. One day, they'll all apologize and he'll be back."

Well...

Ok, I wasn't around really when Head had some mean things to say, but from what I can gather, most of it was:

"You're Satan! Your band and your whole lifestyle is wrought with the devil and evil!"

This is coming from a guy who was previously messed up on many drugs, dealing with a lot of problems, and was justifiably frightened of the places he'd been, wanting to go NOWHERE near them again.

But in a way, was what he really said THAT BAD? Mostly what I can glean from what he said was that the Korn and culture surrounding Korn was bad vibes and dark places. And... admittedly, at the time, they kinda were. Obviously since then the whole band has undergone a complete band sobriety, one of them finding religion, and all of them pretty much maturing and becoming much better people. But, aside from that, the statements I saw Head make were wrought from fear, and you could see it. I really don't think Head's the kind of guy to engage in any verbally abusive dialogue. It's kinda like when someone's drunk, and saying a lot of horrible mean things that you know they'll be sorry about in the morning when they're sober.

David, on the other hand... well, here's what I gathered, and I'm paraphrasing:

"Jon's wife and mother to his children is nothing but a whore."
"Korn fans are whiny cunts."
"Those guys are always wasted."

VAST difference here... I would be hard-pressed to forgive someone for statements like that. Head's statements were emotionally-charged, but it's like chasing an animal into a corner and then being upset with it when it bites you out of fear. David had no bad vibes whatsoever... He just dropped off the radar, then re-emerged with all this selectively verbally-abusive garbage to say about Korn and Korn's culture.

What would you do with a person like that? I haven't seen David make any kind of reconciliation with the band at all, other than suddenly popping up with "uh, Korn needs the original 5!!!!" One minute you're calling us whiny cunts, and the next you're saying you want to come back? You even have the nerve to diss on their current lineup and say your inclusion would be much better?

I've NEVER heard Head diss on Korn's additional musical pursuits. Any time in an interview, he'd always say "I wish them the best in everything they do."

What do you all think? I know I know, WWJD, and he'd forgive because he's a god who has that ability, but we're human, and while you can let go the damage someone's done, you can't possibly be stupid enough to let that damage continue again as if it had never happened.

Do you think David still has some growing up to do, or do you think Korn's being too harsh?

People say many things they don't mean when things don't go as the way they wish which can crowd their thoughts, words and actions towards the ones they love or anyone.

Think about it, your brother leaves and things kind of fall apart. Then he comes back and you're the one left behind. Being left behind with crowded thoughts and emotions about the love of your life and your creation.

As Munkey put it, you always hear stuff when you watch and listen to others play. The audience in this case hasn't yet understood Davids thoughts that may have been filtered by the confused and crowded emotions from what I just explained. Jon mentioned in the new release album that he felt many conflicting emotions. Why can't David?

I feel the family should reunite. But then it's up to the universe to decide.

I can also feel the difference in the syncopated rhythms in the drums from the two drummers and prefer the original.

Ray is a literal MONSTER on drums, and add to the fact that he's genuinely a cool and humble guy in regards to being the "new guy" makes him all the more awesome. The fact is they replaced David they never replaced HEAD...and I don't think there is a unanimous feeling frm fans to bring David back, some want him back but not majority...I personally like the idea of having the whole original lineup back because I fell in love love with KoRn based upon that lineup BUT no way would I want Ray to leave...I think it would be the dopest thing in the world for there to be 2 drumkits on stage with Ray and David back there!...regardless by this time Ray should be 'Here To Stay'

I like Ray's attitude. He understands the fans' feelings about him being "the new guy" and knows that he'll always be "the new guy" to them, just as ... damn I can't remember what example he used, but another band has a "newer" singer that's been in there for 10 years and will always be "the new guy" to him. He doesn't mind it, and to be honest I like Ray too :)

He also said that 'Fieldy was a little bitch' and that he 'wanted to punch him in his fucking face'! Head never crossed that line like David did! David unfortunately has put himself in a very deep hole that I'm afraid he will not be able to get out of! He went a little too far!

I like Ray, he is a nice bloke, David obviously has some issues and therefore isn't 'Korn Material' anymore. From what i have heard and seen, Korn respect their fans, a lot more than the majority of bands do, so to have someone dissing their fans and then including them back into the band, that would tarnish their reputation. Head reacted to the stimulus of a bad environment, 'God' helped him achieve what he wanted, he only wanted to be a better person and for him that meant leaving the band. His choice, his sacrifice, his life. David had no such revelations, his statements are his own spiteful opinions. I like the current line-up, much better with Head, they are all down to earth and good people. With his current attitude, David doesn't belong.
