My First Korn Concert
I barely got to make it to this one. With school and my job at the time in the way of everything, I was pretty certain I wasn't going to make it to their show in Anchorage, Alaska. And I was flat broke haha.
My sister had won a pair of tickets to see them, so she was going. Seeing that she is my older sister, of course she rubbed it in my face. I wanted to go SO bad! Korn had played two shows in Anchorage, due to the first original show selling out so quick. The first show they had played was in March of 2010 on the 26th. I however made it to the show the day after that one :)
My dad is the reason that my brother and I made it to the show. He called us over to his house to have a "talk." The first thing that came to my mind was that I was in trouble, but no. He wanted to tell us something else..
Once we had arrived to his house he sat us down at the kitchen table and immediately said, "Boys, I wanna see improvements in school after this. Josh I want you to try harder in math. Especially math."
I was bewildered, why is he lecturing us now?
"Ok, I will dad. Whats the catch?"
"We're leaving tomorrow to Anchorage so you can go to see Korn."

No words can describe how happy I was to know that I was going to make it. Dad had it all planned out, he even got HIS brother (my uncle) to snag two extra tickets to their SOLD OUT SHOW! Meaning the Denai'na Center (where Korn performed) was going to be packed. It all felt like a dream.
So the day came. March 27th, 2010. We got on that plane and were on our way to Anchorage. I actually thought we were going to miss half of Korns set, but we arrived in Anchorage at 7:30 PM and their first opening act was just getting started :)
I was ready to witness Korn for the first time.
After the opening acts and a 45 minute wait, the lights went out, and a type of electronic thud echoed the stadium-like room. Korn was getting ready to take stage. But before any of the members entered, an audio version of their song "4U" started playing. Entrance song? Maybe :)
After 4U, the electronic thud came back. It was very loud. And it kept repeating...
DEAD BODIES EVERYWHERE!
Munky began playing the dark, creepy intro to Dead Bodies, but it was so dark still that we couldn't see him yet. Then a light lit up the stage, and there he was. Munky, Fieldy, Ray... But no JD. Yet.
After the heavy riff started, JD non-chalantly walked on the stage. We all went nuts!
The set was amazing. All of their old stuff :) I really hope to see them many more times in the future now that they released The Path of Totality and have a dubstep element in their genre now.
You can find the full audio recording of that night in 2010 here on Korn.com if you are a member.
My older sister was in shock when she saw us after the show.
