First Impressions of "Paradigm Shift"

Wed, Oct 9, 2013 at 12:44 PM By: HipnikDragomir

Picked it up yesterday (release) and just listened to it today

You guys

Out of all of their albums, this was the first to actually disappoint me. The main reason is that it's very mainstream generic like every other "new rock" group that have popped up in the last ten years. Ray's drumming is entirely of that kind with no groove anywhere and Jon makes every chorus that singy "hnnngg" that they all do. Also every song starts off well enough in the verse but all go into the generic energetic chorus as described above.

I'll need several listens to ingest everything and make a proper final judgement

Also, I guess in a couple weeks I'll have my "equipment" back to make my review of all their albums. Peace, yo

Indeed, Silent Metal. Listening to it a second time, the album sounds very much like See You... with its production and Jon's sing-song parts. It's just that they have a cool jam going in the verse then in the chorus then take it sky-high in every damn song and it's annoying

I have no problem with JD's voice on this album, quite the contrary actually, this is some of his best vocal work since SYOTOS.

we also have to Understand, in 5 or 6 years, J Davis is gonna be 50 years old, who knows how much Voice he has Left?!! after 20 years of Korn, his Voice is probably Thrashed!.. Singers who Scream like he does don't Last very long.. i mean he's Lucky he even has any Voice at all Left!.. in my opinion, i think people are being too Greedy, No Band on Earth can Repeat their Performance of how "They Used to be".. and that's what were seeing with Korn, like i said, their almost 50 years old, they only have so much TIME left...

i do think the Paradigm Shift is a Great Album.. but i do have a "Gripe" about something.. i wish Jonathan Davis wouldn't Sing soo Much.. i wish Somebody would tell him that he doesn't have too Sing all the Time, just let the Intstruments do they're Job.. i Want to hear Fieldy's Bass, i Want to hear Head and Munks Guitars!! why does Jonathan Davis feel like he ALWAYS has to Sing these LONG DRAWN OUT MELODIC CHORUS'S?!! i don't know!.. i want Jonathan Davis' Vocals to be SHORT, QUICK, and THRASHING.. Not LONG DRAWN OUT MELODIC CHORUS'S
