What do you hope from Korn's next album?

Wed, Jul 20, 2011 at 6:28 PM

Here's what I hope:

1. They find a replacement for Head.
2. Jon finds some new topics to sing about.
3. Something with the heaviness of Korn III yet experimental like Issues or Untitled.

I am dying for bagpipes. That and JD's scatting make Korn. K3 was the only album that had none of that. Also I think Ray should slow down on the drumming. K3 lacked breathing room, which is a reason it sounded forced. JD has said he's written happy stuff but doesn't use it. K3 was way too forced emotionally as well, Ross made JD revisit stuff that he should be over by now (thanks a lot Ross). But I feel JD doesn't use that happy stuff because the fans would think it isn't "Korn" (like the general reaction to untitled). I would really like some deep lyrics on this one. That is why Issues is my favorite. Very self-reflective, not like K3 where Jon went back to yelling at people who did bad stuff to him (no offense JD). But I don't have any idea what to expect from the new Dub-Korn album. Get Up had some nice quotable lyrics, the chorus was deeper than anything on K3. We can only hope. As for the lineup, I still think David should come back. I don't like the idea of adding members. To me, Korn was something special- five friends from Bako looking for escape. Ray coming in just seemed out of place, y'know? Like, the guys went through so much together, and he steps in just like that. So no, I don't want a replacement for Head, cause no one can replace him. I'd rather have the backup guitarist out-of-sight . No offense to the back-up krew. I'd prefer the krew komplete at some time in the future, if Head can get back on his feet and if David can realize he was way better off in Korn.

But that's a lot to expect in the near future, so maybe if just one of things happens, I'll be happy.
    Then, now, and forever... A.D.W.D.A.K.!!!

^I agree. KoRn really needs to stop singing about their problems, and start singing about world issues.

The next album should cover topics like eating disorders, autism, obsessive compulsive disorder, paranoia, seven deadly sins, war, life and death situations, the current state of the world, suicide, and organized religion.

KoRn has always been very introspective, though... I personally prefer outward-looking lyrics, but that has never been Jonathan's style. The closest he came to that was with Untitled, which I loved.

You see, that's the problem with Korn. As much as I like the band, it gets a little boring to hear about Jon's problems every album. I respect the guy, but he needs to sing about other stuff. I thought Untitled was a great album lyrically, and then Korn III came around, and he went back to his angry lyrics.

i'm a fan of long songs (8+ minutes), i'd love to hear Korn do more of that, maybe with some unusual song structures too. i think some more acoustic guitar would be awesome as well

i'm sure they won't disappoint with what they do next! i do love the direction they're going with the dubstep

I think, along with others here, that there should be more of Jonathan's scatting, bagpipes, and stronger lyrics.

I can't say much that hasn't already been pointed out.

^ Agreed with both of these.

I thought I read that they had a bunch of new stuff and Ross took them in a different direction. Ross pushed Jon so hard.. Also, the point of remembering who they were, getting back to their roots, was angry music dealing with Jon's problems was it not? I believe they'll take a different approach with the next cd and hope it will have alot more musical experimentation. I still greatly appreciate that Jon still shares himself the way he does in his music. I'd like to hear more songs like the one's Jon posted on Soundcloud.

'Something with the heaviness of Korn III yet experimental like Issues or Untitled'

    That.

Also I would love to hear JD scatting more again. bagpipes would be cool. Some stronger lyrics than on Get Up (don't get me wrong, i like the track lol). But i'm excited to hear in which direction they'll take the album. Oh and I would like to hear some cool freaky guitar sounds again.

That was Head's doing. No dice on that one.

I do hope there are bagpipes on the new album. That would be extremely lame having two studio albums in a row with no bagpipes. Scat vocals, too. Strange how RWYA was missing those two key elements.

I wouldn't mind hearing some instrumental parts, i love that shit when Munk goes off and does his instrumental bit, and also Ray could do some, Fieldy as well. Like with Liar, when Munk did that instrumental is just amazing shit, serious goosebumps. I remember listening to that, just me and my son, and just feeling the weight of the world being lifted off me. It was spiritual to me, tbh. The scatting, bagpipes, eerie sounds etc., I have to agree with people when they state they miss it, I do too.

Scatting, Bagpipes, weird/creepy/experimentation like sounds, good production, instrumental breaks, good lyrics, and some growls/heavy screams from Jonathan!

More vocal melodies.....less....but some screaming as of course his screams are a staple of JD.....same crunch as the 1st 2 records and KoRn III.....less synth or techno stuff.......oh and Untouchables Duece . ( I know must do not like Untouchables from what I read......
